Ultrasonic inspection uses high frequency sound waves to detect imperfections or changes in properties within the materials. It can also be used to measure the thickness of a wide range of metallic and non-metallic materials where access from one side only is available.
ATTAR offers Ultrasonics training in these sectors: - General Engineering, Corrosion detection and Mapping, Welds, Castings, Forgings, Nodes/Nozzles & Conveyor Belt
Typical Applications - Thickness Determination of Materials - Inspection of Castings - Inspection of Forgings - Inspection of Welds - Inspection of Aerospace Materials
Industries that use Ultrasonics - Service Inspection Companies - Smelters & Foundries - Rolling & Forging Mills - Petro Chemical & Refineries - Mining & Mineral Processing - Aircraft Maintenance & Manufacturing - Vehicle Maintenance & Manufacturing - Government Bodies - Engineering Firms - Research & Development Facilities - Education & Training - Equipment Manufacture & Sales

Prerequisite Index
LL&N - All courses have a minimum pre-requisite of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N) and basic knowledge of materials and processes.
Materials Technology/Multisector (or a knowledge of materials processes) is a recommended pre-requisite for all Level 1 and Level 2 courses. Completion of a Materials Technology course is not compulsory. However, most students without a formal background in materials technology/processes may find aspects of the industry specific exams difficult without completion of the Materials Technology (Multisector) course.
Math¹ - Basic math skills including algebra.
Math² - Math skills including algebra and trigonometry. Examples of typical minimum math requirements can be found on our webpage.
